Retainers are steadfast servants or attendants who act as supporting characters for your PC. You must have some control over them be that a generouos pay, a blood bond or the insidious effects of vampiric disciplines. No matter how perfect you imagine them to be, there will always be at least one thing that may cause them to reconsider their loyalty. If you don't treat them well, or they have reason to believe they are expendable, they are all the more likely to turn on you when you need them the most.
[FU] Rule Systems
All vampires have a dark Beast within driven by the instinct to feed on human blood. As a vampire commits more atrocities for the sake of their own survival the Beast is drawn closer to the surface. The closer the Beast is to the surface the easier it becomes to excuse or brush off more atrocities. It is a downward spiral that can quickly dive out of control. Morality* is the measure of how much you are in control opposed to how much the Beast has taken hold.
Vampire blood is powerful, intoxicating ...and addictive. It also legendary in its power to enslave those drink of it be they mortal or fellow kindred alike. Mortals gain a small sample of their master's immortality and strength making it difficult to refuse. Meanwhile for other vampires it creates strong feelings of love and loyalaty that are otherwise void in their undead existance. But as with all power, they come at a cost.
