Welcome to Future Uncertain. We are thrilled to have you join our community for online role playing. This game will focus on the exploration of gothic horror, specifically aimed towards that which has been untold within the World of Darkness as mortality and immortality are drawn into an impasse and the Masquerade is at risk of crumbling.
The city of Toronto and its surrounding area is the focus of this online venue, which is designed to allow natural growth and change based on the actions of the players and stories told within. While based within the V5 versions of the World of Darkness, the game reserves the rights to include and not include anything within the printed materials as setting information.
The current state of the area is as follows:
The Waterloo area is broken into two sections, each controlled independently from the other. One is Camarilla controlled under Prince Ujio Tanaka, while the other is Autarkis controlled under Krista Mayr.
Rural Cambridge, Puslinch lake/African Lion's Safari area is currently controlled by Leo.
Brampton is under Anarch control and run by a Kindred named Tyrone.
Toronto is a contested area currently under Sabbat control.
Guelph is under Werewolf control. In Toronto along the Humber River, Don Valley, and other large green areas have been known to be used by them as well. These areas are considered highly dangerous and should be stayed away from.
Tech ban from Prince Ujio Tanaka:
Technology may be utilized for all affairs mundane in nature. Whether these affairs are illegal or not matters little to me, it will be left to you to ensure that your actions are held to the strictest levels of confidence in order to avoid causing any undue threat to yourselves and by extension the domain. Technology should not be seen as the enemy but it should be heavily scrutinized and if you are not absolutely certain of your ability to manipulate said technology then it will be your responsibility to ensure that you have someone skilled enough to do so for you. Failure to ensure this will be dealt with in the same manner as a violation of the first tradition. So that there is no confusion, a violation of the first tradition which places the domain in danger or places others and by extension the domain in danger will be met with death. Let there be no confusion pertaining to this edict moving forward.
Elysium
Nisroc's Roost is located in a renovated warehouse near newer shopping districts. The building itself is two stories tall, and the interior has been completely refurbished over the years, though only the front half or so of the building is open for the public. The main level is the general bookstore, with more common recent publications, magazines, and other typical bookstore offerings on the main level. The upper level has rarer books and a few study reading areas, as well as lounge chairs and places to get comfortable, giving the impression of a very oversized personal library space. This upper level can be closed off from the lower level, and often is for meetings or events. The back half of the building is the book vault, where the truely rare and precious books are. This area is equipped with a vacuum sealed fire suppression system, and requires special access permission due to the security needs of the materials it holds. Also towards the back are a series of six rooms that can be used to house (or imprison) a kindred overday if necessary. The front desk keeps a small collection of drinks - coffee, hot water boiler and instant drinks and teas - but all drinks are required to be in a thermos, or some container with a secure lid.
World Events:
In the setting of Future Uncertain, the attack on Vienna is still fresh and raw. This has left the clan Tremere still in recovery mode for the survivors and their magic in a state of flux. Communications are difficult outside the area, with the technology ban in the Camarilla having been passed down and enforced. The threat of the Second Inquisition is very real, placing most Kindred into defensive measures.
Why is your character here?
This is a question that often comes up in creation of your character, what has brought them to the area. Here are some ideas that fit within the setting to help brainstorm or provide solutions for you.
- Word that Ujio Tanaka has started work on seizing a new territory from the Sabbat in Canada. Your Camarilla character could come to help aid in the war efforts through a variety of ways. This does not directly tie you to the character but rather that their reputation is one of great standing within the Ivory Tower and the opportunity to be present within a newly growing domain has been recognized.
- As an Anarch you could be arriving to bolster their numbers in this area. It is known that they control territory in a growingly contested area, your character could be coming to lend their aid to the Movement.
- You could have a character connection to another character in the game. Many of the players are open to different kinds of links, even just knowing each other in passing from another Court. Feel free to ask in the out of character room.
- With the growing threat of the Second Inquisition, your character could be seeking out a place with numbers. Perhaps they were more solitary for a time or in a smaller domain and looking for more security from Hunters.
- As an Autarkis you could be seeking out one of the few places that they have territory controlled as a group. With Krista Mayr holding territory this could be a reason to be arriving to the area as well.
